Sabian creates a new universe with the FRX cymbals! The hi-hat features holes punched around the bell to control high and low frequencies. The sound remains controlled with a very fast response. Play with precision and this hi-hat will meet all expectations instantly.
The Sabian FRX series, from which this 14" hi-hat originates, gently responds to those looking to reduce cymbal volume without sacrificing responsiveness. With this series full of small holes, Sabian simply opens a new era of playing. Stunning!
A breathtaking invention.
Discovering the difference between Sabian AAX cymbals and the brand-new FRX is a bit like moving from a hearty traditional cassoulet to a plate of nouvelle cuisine, or even molecular gastronomy. The comparison is not exaggerated, as the designers have found (likely after developing the more extreme Quiet Tones) another way to use cymbals, or rather to propose a different approachmuch lighterwithout changing how they are played.
A well-rounded series already.
The key to a new products success is ensuring it doesnt stand alone. This large hi-hat is fabulous on its own: light, airy, nuanced, and very precise. It can even be played on the quarter note, creating great energy without overpowering the vocalists voice. But to truly embrace a new style of playing, its important to homogenize the entire set. Thats why the designers developed a 15" hi-hat, three rides at 20", 21", and 22", crash cymbals at 16", 17", and 19", an 18" china, and a 10" splash to accompany it.
Unrestrained yet lightweight.
On this already fairly thin hi-hat, around its circumference and extending onto the bell, there is a row of holes of identical diameter. Thats metal that doesnt vibrate with every stick hit! A brilliant idea, combined with other drilling techniques for the rides, offering drummers the ability to deliver exactly the same amplitude and weight with each stroke without saturating the music. Excellent for the ears, for certain more acoustic styles, or for rethinking new styles to come. Sabian has definitely found a way to further evolve the drum kit!
The FRX 14" hi-hat cymbals are made from B20 bronze, delivering a clear sound and quick response. These frequency-reducing cymbals are ideal for playing in venues such as bars, theaters, weddings, and music schools. Played closed or semi-open, this hi-hat will perfectly blend into any mix with other instruments. Hand-hammered, the FRX remain true to Sabians line of high-end cymbals. The days of having to control your stick attack and its impact on the cymbal are over!
