It's been a long road for guitarists in search of the ultimate blues-rock sound of the late sixties. An iconic guitarist of that era discovered his signature sound through a happy mistake: a pickup whose magnet had been mistakenly installed upside down, out of phase.
While these humbuckers deliver the ultimate blues-rock grain in the neck and bridge positions, the middle position opens the door to masterful clarity and expressiveness normally reserved for single coils. The neck pickup's upside-down magnet causes a phase inversion when engaged with the bridge pickup, so Seymour Duncan recreates this very special configuration with the Green Magic set. These pickups are perfectly calibrated for that classic, warm, dynamic grain that makes blues sound so magical.
