I'm not a pro but I clearly perceive the difference with other mics I've used, from Prodipe to Senheiser. The SM58 is built like a tank. It gives the impression of a quality you wouldn't expect for a mic at 98. The sound is round, faithful, with enough dynamics, much less "pops" than the mics mentioned above. Cherry on the cake: the switch to turn it off without touching the mixing desk. Oh yes, I forgot: no supposedly non-slip coating here that becomes sticky and gross, and degrades after a year... Follow my gaze... In short, for stage singing, it's "THE" mic you need!
