The JTC Drum & Loop follows the line of "performance" loopers: immediate handling, logical foot control, and above all the addition of an integrated drum machine to recreate the feel of a drummer when rehearsing without a band. Where a classic looper stacks layers, the JTC adds structure: tempo, measures, fills, and stop modes to make your loops more musical, lively, and easier to use live.
This pedal targets both beginner guitarists who want to improve with a "musical" metronome and experienced musicians who need a quick tool to lay down rhythms, test harmonies, work on timing, or prepare a solo performance. In blues and rock, shuffle patterns and fills immediately bring the right groove. In pop, funk, or indie, 4/4 grooves are perfect for building verses and choruses. In ambient contexts, it becomes a texture generator thanks to overdubs, while the drums serve as a rhythmic guide to maintain a steady pulse.
On a pedalboard, the JTC Drum & Loop is also an excellent "all-in-one" solution: you keep your usual effects chain (drive, modulation, delay, reverb) and place the looper at the end of the chain to capture the complete sound, ready to be played on stage or recorded in a home studio.
The looper is controlled from the left switch with intuitive operation: one press to record, a second to start playback, then a third to stack overdubs. A long press allows you to mute and reactivate overdub playback, useful for arranging your layers "on the fly." Two looping behaviors are available: Record/Play (classic logic) or Record/Overdub (even smoother chaining for quick layering).
The drum machine is launched from the right switch: one press starts it, another triggers a fill, and a double press stops the drums. Tempo is adjustable from 40 to 240 BPM, and can also be set via tap tempo on the left switch before recording (and when the drum track is active), greatly speeding up setup during rehearsal or between songs.
For the overall mix, two dedicated knobs allow separate adjustment of loop level and drum level. Regarding behavior, the pedal offers 2 start modes (switch start or automatic start on input signal detection) and 3 stop modes (immediate stop, more "musical" stop, or fade out), to avoid abrupt cuts and achieve cleaner endings live.
Finally, the output connectivity is designed to adapt to modern setups: a dedicated "amp" output and a dedicated "mixer" output including speaker simulation. Three routing modes also allow you to choose how to distribute guitar and drums between left and right (separation, inversion, or combination), depending on whether you play through a guitar amp, a PA system, an audio interface, or stage monitor.
With its 24-bit digital processing, the JTC Drum & Loop prioritizes clear, stable, and faithful reproduction, with clean attack rendering and good clarity of stacked layers. The dynamics remain pleasant for working right-hand nuances and placements, while the drums maintain enough presence to "carry" the groove without masking your playing.
The "mixer" output with speaker simulation facilitates use on PA or interface when you want a signal more ready to mix, and the drum frequency optimization system helps keep percussion intelligible on small amps, which often struggle with low frequencies. The result: a very effective tool for serious practice, structuring clean loops, and holding a solo set with minimal gear.
