To celebrate Celestion's 100th anniversary, the original English manufacturer designed the Celestion 100 to embody the essence and sound of the first alnico G12 guitar speakers that helped define the classic British tone.
A bit of history...
At the end of the 1950s, Celestion's chief engineer, Les Ward, set out to adapt the General Purpose G12 speaker, originally designed for radio use, into a speaker intended for guitar amplifiers. At that time, the most famous among them were the Vox Blue T530 and the Marshall Silver T650; other models were added to the list, contributing to the rich history of this venerable G12 speaker.
Revival of a reference
In developing the Celestion 100, Celestion relied on its collection of vintage alnico guitar speakers to create a new G12, designed both to look and sound like the model of the era and to reproduce its sound, with the unique sonic signature of the legendary G12s.
The voice of memorable riffs
Meticulously handcrafted in the UK, the Celestion 100 celebrates the world's first guitar speaker which, in various forms, has given voice to some of the most legendary and memorable riffs and solos of all time.
With the Celestion 100, expect generous lows and refined highs, with a smooth, balanced presence in the midrange. And the "cherry on the cake," it offers remarkable compression when pushed into distortion, with a subtly damped yet dynamic attack. Everything you could hope for from a Celestion Alnico guitar speaker, delivering a warm and legendary sound!
