1618 - Avedis I, an Armenian alchemist living in Constantinople, discovers a unique alloy treatment process and applies it to cymbal manufacturing. The sound result is stunning, the cymbals have extraordinary clarity and sustain. This blend of copper, tin, and silver is still used today in the design of Zildjian cymbals. The alchemical symbols in the logo represent one of the metals in this secret alloy.
