A BFR Collector?s Item, the Grand Return of the JP Baritone
Designed in the "Ball Family Reserve" spirit, this JP15 baritone celebrates the sound and ergonomics of John Petrucci models with an ultra-limited series. The first baritone integrated into the JP15 range, it combines high-end luthiery, meticulous "Cherry Creamsicle" finishes, and an extended 27.5" scale length designed for low tunings without sacrificing playing speed.
For Which Musicians and Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists in progressive metal, modern rock, djent, and cinematic/ambient music. The thin neck, flat 17" (431.8 mm) radius, and 24 stainless steel frets allow for low action and advanced techniques (alternate picking, legato, sweeping) while maintaining impeccable intonation in low tunings.
The Sound
The pair of
DiMarzio humbuckers delivers tight and precise lows at the bridge (Crunch Lab) and smooth leads at the neck (Liquifier). The
push/push gain boost on the volume and the
push/push tone control (500k) open up customized internal pickup combinations, from cutting riffs to silky cleans. The
Fishman Powerbridge piezo bridge adds "acoustic" textures, usable in
stereo or blended with magnetic pickups. The
alder/quilted maple combination with the
torrefied maple neck enhances attack, sustain, and clarity, perfectly suited for the long scale length.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To take advantage of the two outputs, use
two 6.35 mm jack cables (TS) to separate piezo and magnetic signals to two inputs. Use an
Ernie Ball 12?58 string set matching the original gauge to maintain tension and intonation in A#. A spare
9V alkaline battery will power the piezo preamp. Add a
wide strap for comfort during long sessions and a
microfiber cloth for maintaining the glossy finish and maple fretboard.
