I tested the OC-5 on guitar and bass. The sound recognition is very effective. Like the models in the Wazacraft range, the pedal allows switching from a vintage mode to a polyphonic mode, which gives it a certain versatility. As often, Boss offers here a pedal that is undoubtedly intended to become a reference in this segment.

I had just sold a pedal with the same function but way too complicated (no, I won't name the brand)... And following a YouTube test by our friend Rabea Massaad on this fabulous BOSS OC-5, I ordered, received, tested, and went straight to my pedalboard. Honestly not disappointed, this little Octaver perfectly meets all my expectations and truly gives "an insane sound." Whether clean, overdrive, or heavy "mean" distortion, only good, very good even... very easy to use, 4 knobs, a Bass or Guitar switch on the back of the pedal, a small switch to toggle from "vintage" mode (clearly faithful to the BOSS OC-2 - a reference) to "Polyphonic" mode... A killer. So if you want to "thicken" your sound, or apply low or high octaves, even on some positions low octaves for bass and high for treble strings, go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I am a bassist, this is my 5th octaver. Having had the OC-2, I prefer the OC-5: the tracking seems to have been improved. The "Poly" function is interesting but chord detection is not obvious. With the Octave +1 button you can get a sort of clavinet or organ sound. In "Vintage" mode this Octave +1 button, used wisely, adds interesting harmonics coupled with Octave -1. The octave -2 is harder to manage (a matter of taste, adjustment, and long-term use). Compared to some other octavers currently on the market that I have tested, there is no unpleasant digital micro-latency on the OC-5, especially with the higher octave (Oct+1). Compared to another "blue DELUXE color" octaver, a kind of copy of the OC-2, priced the same, there's really no comparison in terms of tracking and possibilities! And as usual, it's solid, Boss quality.

What a chance to find this rarity! ?
I didn't know the previous versions so I won't make any comparison.
Reliable, solid gear... it's Boss.
Allow some time to get to grips with the beast ...
