Description

Korg Pitchblack PB-XS Pedal Guitar Tuner
The Pitchblack X series was designed to become the new standard in pedal tuners. These tuners offer unprecedented readability and accuracy so you can tune in the best conditions, even in the dark of a stage between songs. The built-in Ultra Buffer adjusts the impedance of the sound before it goes through the effects chain to avoid signal loss. It can be disabled on the PB-X and PB-XS models. Featuring a rigid and durable case, the Pitchblack X's will follow you everywhere, without flinching, for many years.

Does the job. I am always on the lookout for good buffers with useful additional features, hence the purchase decision for this buffered tuner. The buffer is therefore very HiZ (>1MOhm) and even slightly rejects the cutoff frequency of the pickups... Tonally perfectly neutral then, as long as you go into a HiZ input afterwards, with a slight gain of +0.6dB added. However, entering a Line input introduces slight losses: level already with -0.4dB, and on the sub-bass side -0.75dB at 30Hz and -0.3dB at 50Hz roughly, so not exactly perfectly neutral if you want to record DI tracks of basses or dropped guitars for example... (it's still very marginal). In terms of features, the buffer is also deselectable to switch to bypass mode (I no longer really see the point of having bought this particular product afterwards but well, just in case). Note that the tuner is not systematically on and its activation mutes the output systematically. All in all perfect at the pedalboard input for example. Can possibly serve as a simple buffer to plug directly into a console in very simple sound system setups (for bass for example...)... (Show more)
