BLEASS Multiband Compressor is a dynamics plugin designed to increase impact, stability, and perceived level of a bus, master, or key tracks (drums, bass, vocals, synths, guitars). Thanks to its 3-band structure, it allows separate processing of lows, mids, and highs to achieve a stronger and clearer mix: you can tame an overly dominant low end, thicken mids, or smooth harsh highs while preserving overall energy. It is suitable for both mixing and sound design, offering a quick learning curve and enough precision for surgical adjustments.
The signal is split into three frequency bands with adjustable crossover points. This architecture helps avoid the compromises of broadband compression: an overly loud kick no longer "pumps" the entire track, and bright elements can be controlled without darkening the low end. The result is a more musical control, especially useful on drum buses, instrument groups, and the master.
Each band features two-stage processing: a compressor acting above the threshold ("Above") and another acting below ("Below"). This dual approach combines goals that usually require multiple plugins: for example, taming peaks while lifting body and sustain, or selectively controlling a register based on its level. It's an effective tool to gain density without losing transients and to maintain a coherent sound on busy arrangements.
BLEASS Multiband Compressor offers internal and external sidechain options to trigger compression from another source (kick, vocal, percussion, etc.), as well as a frequency-based approach to react to a specific spectral area. This flexibility opens the door to modern techniques: bass ducking on the kick, dynamic smoothing of an aggressive register, or more creative rhythmic movements, all while maintaining control over transparency and musicality.
The built-in soft clipping adds gentle "valve-like" saturation, useful for increasing perceived loudness and adding roundness without harshness. Complementing compression, it helps contain peaks and achieve a more solid sound, particularly useful at the end of the chain on a bus or to add character to a track lacking presence.
The interface provides clear visual feedback to quickly understand what's happening on each band and fine-tune settings. The plugin is designed for daily use with low CPU consumption, making it suitable for dense sessions and projects with multiple bus processing.
