Rotary Mod is a rotating speaker effect plugin designed to recreate the feel of a Leslie cabinet in your DAW. It delivers organic, three-dimensional modulation, perfect for thickening a take and adding depth, or conversely, radically transforming a sound by making it more lively. On a clean guitar, it adds that swirling "chorus-vibrato" movement; on an organ or electric piano, it enhances the vintage character; on synths and vocals, it can produce hypnotic textures and highly creative rotation effects.
The signature of a true Leslie system comes from the combination of two rotating elements. With Rotary Mod, you can adjust the rotor and horn speeds separately and fine-tune their mix to find the exact amount of movement. The result: wide pulsations, tighter vibratos, or more "jet" style modulations depending on your musical intent.
Going beyond simple speed changes, Rotary Mod allows you to add frequency modulation to the rotor and horn speeds via a secondary LFO, with selectable modulation source. This is the ideal tool for creating subtle variations, expressive accelerations, or more experimental effects that follow the dynamics of the track.
Choosing the cabinet size (Standard or Giant) influences the sound and the "smoothness" of the rotation. To finalize your tone in the mix, a Hicut control is included to adjust the high end, tame excessive brightness, or conversely, better anchor the effect in a dense production.
Tap Tempo makes it easy to align the rotation with your track's tempo, useful for coherent rhythmic patterns or marked breaks. Presets speed up setup, while Mix Lock lets you browse presets while keeping the same wet/dry level, allowing you to compare tonal colors without disrupting the mix balance.
The Ribbon control is designed for performance and automation: it allows simultaneous modification of any combination of parameters. Perfect for evolving a rotation from verse to chorus, or programming a gradual intensity build-up without multiplying automation curves.
