FabFilter Pro-MB is a multiband compression and expansion plugin designed to control dynamics in a targeted, musical way with maximum precision. It is suitable for both mixing and mastering, to tame an overpowering bass, calm midrange harshness, smooth sibilance, or conversely to add movement to a frequency range. Its "band-focused" approach facilitates surgical corrections as well as more creative treatments, while maintaining a natural and coherent sound.
Instead of splitting the entire spectrum with crossover points from the start, Pro-MB lets you create a band directly on the frequency area you want to work on. This logic speeds up decision-making and reduces unnecessary adjustments, while keeping full control over the dynamic behavior (compression or expansion) of each band.
The interactive multiband display highlights what is actually being processed, helping to fine-tune without over-processing. If your workflow requires it, you can also merge bands to regain a more classic behavior based on traditional crossovers.
Pro-MB offers a dynamic phase processing mode designed for transparency: no latency, no pre-ringing, and phase behavior that only shifts when gain reduction or increase occurs. For situations where precision is paramount (or conversely responsiveness), you also have a linear phase mode and a minimum phase mode, ideal for adapting to your DAW and production context.
