FabFilter Simplon is a creative and utility filtering plugin designed for mixing, sound design, and live performances. It allows you to clean up a track (removing unnecessary lows, reducing harsh highs), highlight a frequency range, or radically transform a source through resonance and saturation. On drums, it helps tighten a kick or isolate a snare; on bass or synths, it creates risers, sweeps, and textures; on vocals, it refines presence or produces radio, telephone, or electronic movement effects. Its "simplified" design focuses on essentials: quickly achieving a musical, expressive filter that's easy to automate in any style (electro, pop, hip-hop, techno, film music).
Simplon features two filters that can operate independently, allowing you to process a track in two stages (for example: high-pass then low-pass) or create more complex shapes. You freely choose series mode to stack filtering, or parallel mode to blend two responses and obtain more original and lively curves.
Originally developed for FabFilter One, Simplon's filters were designed to remain thick, smooth, and stable even when resonance is pushed to the max. Each filter offers three characteristics that influence color, saturation, and behavior: you can stay within a very clean and musical approach or move toward more extreme effects, up to self-oscillation for punchy sweeps and aggressive textures.
The large interactive display shows filter curves and allows direct adjustment: move points, tweak parameters, work on one filter at a time or both simultaneously. The large controls are especially appreciated for real-time filter movements, whether by mouse, automation, or MIDI controller.
Simplon is designed for modern studio use: precise automation of all parameters, intelligent interpolation for smooth transitions, MIDI learn for quick mapping of control knobs, and a preset browser to start from an effective and coherent point depending on the source to be processed.
