NR800 Native v7 is a noise reduction plugin designed to clean an audio signal in real time, without adding internal latency. It is aimed both at producers and mixers who want to make takes cleaner, and at sound editors and post-production engineers who need to reduce constant or fluctuating noises. In a live sound context, it improves the intelligibility and perceived quality of a voice or microphone source while maintaining a smooth and responsive workflow.
Before even applying noise reduction, NR800 includes a HPF (high-pass filter) and a LPF (low-pass filter). This step is essential to exclude unnecessary spectral areas (sub-bass, extreme highs) and avoid over-processing parts of the signal that add nothing musically. The result: cleaner, more natural reduction that is often easier to adjust.
The core of NR800 relies on eight noise reduction bands allowing you to focus action where noise is most present. This zone-based approach offers great finesse: you can enhance cleaning on a specific band while preserving the body of a voice, the attack of a guitar, or the clarity of dialogue. It is particularly effective on typical background noises (hiss, air conditioning, broadband hum, room ambiances) that do not always occupy the entire spectrum uniformly.
NR800 offers noise reduction modes and a noise reduction bias control to adjust the processing behavior. The goal is to choose a relevant compromise between effectiveness and transparency depending on your source: spoken voice, singing, acoustic instruments, field recordings, or mix buses. Combined with range (global reduction range) and response (processing response) controls, these settings facilitate reduction that is both firm and controlled, without a squashed feeling.
To speed up workflow, NR800 includes Snap Gain and Snap Threshold, designed to quickly achieve a coherent starting point. These functions allow faster calibration of essential parameters, a real advantage when processing many tracks, working under time constraints, or performing live. You then retain control over the reduction level and character of the processing to fine-tune by ear.
