Waves X-Hum is an audio restoration plugin designed to remove low-end spectrum issues that immediately ruin a recording or mix: 50/60 Hz hum, buzzes, mechanical vibrations, as well as DC offset (direct current component) which can reduce available dynamic range. This approach cleans the low end without making the source thin, by precisely adjusting the cutoff according to the instrument or voice.
At sub-audible frequencies, a DC offset can reduce your headroom and complicate dynamics, especially during tight gain staging. X-Hum allows you to adjust the cutoff to remove this direct current component while preserving the bass, facilitating level optimization and signal stability in a processing chain.
Factory presets cover the most common scenarios and speed up troubleshooting during sessions. You can also link filters to adjust multiple parameters simultaneously, or conversely unlink them for surgical intervention.
