Thanks to walnut, it is particularly suited for styles where body and substance are sought (rock, pop, studio, funk, hip-hop), while remaining versatile with good harmonic control.
The shell is delivered unpierced: holes for lugs, trigger, butt plate, and vent must be drilled after marking. To correctly position the drillings, you can use the Sparedrum LO16 or LO26 template. For a clean result, it is recommended to use "hardwood" drill bits and to measure and verify the required drilling diameters for your hardware before any operation.
Walnut is appreciated for its rich and balanced sonic signature: present low-mids, natural warmth, and generally softer highs compared to very bright woods. On a snare drum, this translates into a defined attack, controlled sustain, and solid projection, particularly pleasant in studio or live contexts when you want "grain" without harshness.
With its 6 plies and 5.4 mm thickness, the shell maintains good resonance while providing stability and control. The 45-degree interior bevels promote a crisp response and good sensitivity, especially with precise head tuning.
