- Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged aging for the look and feel of a carefully preserved Burst.
- Two-piece solid maple top on a lightweight one-piece mahogany back for natural sustain.
- Two Custombucker Alnico 3 unpotted humbuckers + 50s wiring (CTS, Paper-in-Oil) for authentic PAF tone.
A 1958 Icon, Recreated with Mastery
The 1958 Standard marks the beginning of the Les Paul "Burst" as admired today. This reissue follows the historic Custom Shop methods: hide glue joint, long tenon, Royalite binding, and nitrocellulose lacquer. The
Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged treatment simulates decades of light wear (fine checking, subtly aged hardware) for immediate vintage character without compromising the reliability of a new instrument.
Who Is It For?
Designed for the
intermediate to professional guitarist, this Les Paul excels in
blues, rock, classic rock, hard rock and also shines in
jazz and
pop. The 50s rounded, generous neck provides comfort and control for bending and vibrato, while the narrow frets enhance the wood?s grain under the fingers.
The Sound
The pair of
Custombucker Alnico 3 unpotted pickups delivers an authentic PAF range: airy clarity, singing mids, and silky highs. Neck position offers round lows and smooth leads; bridge position provides precise bite for riffs and solos that cut through the mix. The
50s wiring with CTS 500k audio taper pots and Paper-in-Oil capacitors preserves high-end openness when rolling down volume. The
ABR-1 bridge +
lightweight aluminum tailpiece optimize attack and sustain, while the
mahogany/maple combination balances warmth and articulation.
