Reinterpreted by the Gibson Custom Shop, this 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue captures the last evolution of the original Les Paul before its transformation into the SG in the early 60s. Compared to the highly coveted 1959 model, it features a slimmer and more agile neck profile while retaining the legendary tonal recipe: lightweight mahogany body with a two-piece flamed maple top, cream binding, and period-correct hardware.
Designed for experienced musicians and collectors, it excels both on stage and in the studio. The non-waxed Alnico 3 Custombuckers deliver a wide tonal range, with singing mids, airy highs, and firm lows. The non-wax potting promotes the ?breathing? of the sound and musical feedback at high volume. The CTS 500k potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors reveal the full palette of nuances, from vintage crunch to clear, articulate tones, while the 3-position Switchcraft toggle switch ensures clean transitions. The mahogany/maple combination, No-Wire ABR-1 bridge, and aluminum tailpiece extend the sustain and projection typical of the finest Les Pauls.
To maintain the balance and scale length of this Les Paul, choose nickel electric strings in gauges 10-46 (or 9-46 for more flexibility). A quality leather strap with a non-slip surface secures the instrument on standard strap buttons. An adjustable-tension electric guitar capo with a clamp design fits perfectly on the single-cut format. Add a low-capacitance instrument cable, a set of picks, and a microfiber cloth for maintenance.
