Update
Requires a full license to operate.
This version is an update (UPG): it requires owning an eligible Melodyne Studio 3 license to activate the upgrade. Please ensure your previous version meets the "Studio 3" condition before installation and activation.
Melodyne 5 Studio is a professional audio editing tool designed to correct and shape recorded takes with musical precision: pitch, rhythm, phrasing, transitions, and even tonal color. It is suitable both for mixing (cleaning and stabilizing a lead vocal, aligning choirs, tightening instrument rhythms) and production (creative reinterpretation, harmonization, melodic rewriting, sample transformation).
Its strength lies in offering a very "musician-friendly" approach: instead of manipulating only a waveform, you work on detected notes (pitch, timing, length, dynamics), which speeds up edits while maintaining a natural sound, even on demanding projects.
The DNA (Direct Note Access) technology goes beyond simple monophonic correction: Melodyne can analyze certain polyphonic signals and offer note-by-note editing. This opens highly sought-after possibilities in the studio, such as adjusting a problematic note within a chord, restructuring an instrument part, or generating usable data for arrangement.
To ensure reliable detection and musical rendering, Melodyne 5 Studio provides several algorithms depending on the signal type: Melodic (with sibilant detection for cleaner vocal work), Percussive, Universal, and Polyphonic. This lets you adapt the software's behavior to a vocal, bass, guitar, piano, rhythmic loop, or sample, achieving more transparent modifications that are quicker to implement.
With multitrack note editing, you can work on multiple tracks within a single window. This is ideal for locking the pitch and timing of stacked choirs, consolidating the attack of a voice/instrument duo, or checking the musical alignment of multiple takes without constantly switching between separate windows.
Macros speed up common tasks: pitch correction, timing quantization, and leveling. For finer edits, the complete toolbox and inspectors provide quick access to essential parameters, allowing you to move from broad correction to surgical micro-editing without breaking your workflow.
The chord track and grid with automatic recognition facilitate harmonic analysis and coherence between tracks. Tempo detection and editing allow stabilizing a performance, adapting a recording to a grid, or creating a usable rhythmic foundation. Finally, exporting polyphonic audio signals as MIDI forms a valuable bridge to virtual instruments and arrangement, enabling doubling parts, triggering synths, or reconstructing progressions.
The sound editor offers unique control over tonal colors, useful for refining a timbre, better integrating a vocal in a mix, or exploring more creative transformations. Melodyne 5 Studio also provides comprehensive functions for editing scales, tuning systems, and temperaments, an asset for projects that go beyond classical tonal frameworks or require specific tuning precision.
