The PRS Custom 24 is Paul Reed Smith's quintessential guitar: the very first model presented to the public by the brand at Winter NAMM 1985, and since then, a stage and studio standard. This 2025 version maintains the balance that made it successful (ergonomics, finishes, versatility) while emphasizing key evolutions such as the PRS Gen III vibrato and DMO pickups, designed for a more open and musical response.
The Custom 24 is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists who want a premium guitar capable of doing it all without compromise: rock, pop, fusion, funk, hard rock, modern metal, blues, and studio sessions. Thanks to the 5-position selector, it easily shifts from precise, articulate rhythm parts to singing leads, with a true "pro instrument" feel in hand.
The acoustic foundation rests on a mahogany body that provides density, warmth, and sustain, paired with a carved violin-style maple top that enhances attack, definition, and projection in the upper spectrum. This typical PRS combination delivers a very usable balance in the mix, both in clean tones and overdrive.
The PRS DMO pickups (treble and bass) are designed for an open sound, with a "vocal" character and excellent clarity across the frequency range. The combination of 1 volume, 1 tone and the 5-position selector allows quick tonal variations, from full, rich sounds to more snappy and articulate positions-ideal for switching from a clean verse to a heavier chorus without changing guitars.
Delivered with a case. To stay within original specifications, this Custom 24 is strung with 10-46 gauge strings: an electric 10-46 string set is therefore recommended to maintain the feel, tension balance, and vibrato behavior.
