The Baggs AEG-1 electro-acoustic guitar represents the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to high-performance acoustic amplification, rooted in the craftsmanship of a luthier. Our founder and master luthier, Lloyd Baggs, began as a guitar maker, crafting instruments for artists such as Ry Cooder, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, and Janis Ian. His deep respect for the guitar led him to seek faithful amplification of his own instruments for live performances.
After years of studying the physics of acoustic instruments and innovating pickups and electronics, the AEG-1 is the achievement of everything we have learned about acoustic sound and its amplification. Lloyd’s dual expertise as a luthier and pickup designer allowed us to create a perfectly harmonized guitar and electronics system, precisely tailored for this instrument. Thanks to the remarkable acoustic properties of the AEG-1, we were able to amplify it with our most precise system to date — the revolutionary HiFi Duet. Equipped with our award-winning HiFi Bridge Plate pickups and studio-quality Silo microphone, the AEG-1 is versatile and ready for any stage, large or small.
The AEG-1’s patented, pending neck support system is the key to its exceptional acoustic performance. Traditionally, the tops and backs of thin-bodied acoustic guitars are reinforced to support the neck, which compromises acoustic response. Our innovative approach frees the top and back to resonate independently, without having to support the neck, thus offering increased sensitivity and optimal acoustic response, all in an elegant and comfortable design.
Another advantage of this ultra-stable neck support is that it allows more energy from the strings to be transferred to the top, thereby expanding the dynamic range, enriching tonal depth, and enhancing low-frequency response. This provides a depth, warmth, and sonic richness previously unattainable for an electro-acoustic guitar.
