The flagship of the A Series, the A8H is a three-way speaker capable of delivering the ultra-precise and analytical sound required for critical listening environments. The A8H features an 8-inch woofer made of Multi-Layer Mineral (MLM) fibers, an innovative midrange driver, and the handmade high-precision X-ART tweeter. Together, they produce a very wide frequency range. Like other models in the A Series, the A8H allows fine sound tuning with great flexibility, thanks to the rotatable HPS waveguide and integrated DSP. ADAM Audios HPS (High-Frequency Propagation System) waveguide technology projects sound more evenly, wide horizontally but narrower vertically. The A Series introduces a rotatable HPS waveguide. You can rotate the A Series tweeters by 90 degrees while still benefiting from the HPS waveguide technology, whether you install your speakers vertically or horizontally. The A Series HPS waveguide is made from a new glass fiber polymer compound, which helps create a clear sound without unwanted resonances. The X-ART tweeter is located at the center of the rotatable HPS waveguide. Handmade in Germany, the X-ART tweeter offers precise transient response and reproduces the finest sound details. This X-ART tweeter is used in every speaker of the A Series to deliver accurate sound across the entire range.
Multi-Layer Mineral Fiber Woofer
The A Series woofers are made from a specific blend of mineral rock fibers baked together to create a lightweight yet extremely stable material. The mineral composition, stacking, and geometry of each cone are tailored to the driver used in each model. By combining this material with the new magnet system, the A Series woofers deliver high output levels with very low distortion, resulting in tight bass.
Hybrid Amplification
The A Series combines the best of digital and analog worlds. The woofers are powered by Class D amplifiers, which contribute to linear performance while reducing distortion. These amplifiers were specifically selected for their power and efficiency, both in terms of power consumption and sound reproduction. Lower heat dissipation allows for a smaller heat sink, enabling additional investment in power and exceptional performance for the A Series models. The tweeters and midrange drivers are powered by Class AB amplifiers, which reproduce high frequencies smoothly and naturally. Each amplifier is optimized for its operating range, resulting in a finely tuned and properly aligned speaker. To achieve this, ADAM Audio conducted extensive measurements and listening sessions, testing countless amplifiers and amplification components.
DSP Electronics and Room Adaptation
The A Series benefits from the upgradeability of DSP electronics to offer speakers that are more precisely adjustable and more stable than their purely analog counterparts. Thanks to firmware updates via Ethernet connection, you can expect to integrate future ADAM Audio DSP advancements, including new features, filter types, and additional voicings. On the back of the A Series speakers, you will find four dedicated EQ bands for room adaptation: Bass, Desk, Presence, and Treble. Each band is adjustable in increments, providing around a hundred options to help compensate for typical acoustic issues when positioning speakers.
Voicings
A Voicing is a predefined sound profile for the A Series speakers. On the rear panel, you will find three distinct optionsUNR, Pure, and Extselectable via a switch. UNR, or Uniform Natural Response, is a natural and dynamic response curve designed by ADAM Audio, inspired by various historic and iconic ADAM Audio products, including the previous AX series. It is suited for production and composition, as the presence and character of its timbre leave more room for creativity and inspiration. It is also an excellent choice when you simply want to enjoy music listening. Pure is an option that delivers a very precise and neutral sound. It is the flat setting, ideal for mixing and mastering when you need to hear every detail and rely on an accurate representation. The Ext voicing is dedicated to advanced features offered by the A Control software via Ethernet connection.
