The Core Sub is not an "added" subwoofer to the system: it was designed on the same electronic platform as the Core studio monitors to ensure identical behavior in dynamics and sound signature. This approach guarantees a natural integration, as if the sub was part of the monitoring from the start, with seamless timbre and transient continuity essential for judging a kick, an 808, a synth bass, or film atmospheres. Its cabinet, handmade in Denmark, and its Pascal class D amplification embody the Core philosophy: precision, controlled power, and studio reliability.
The Dynaudio Core Sub is aimed at mixing and mastering studios, film composers, and post-production control rooms that need to validate extreme low frequencies without overemphasizing the low end. It is particularly relevant in rooms where monitor placement does not allow perfectly linear bass, or when one wants to regain the foundation of a large system without changing the main monitors.
In practice, it helps secure critical decisions: kick/bass balance, sub-bass in electronic music, impact energy in sound design, and LFE channel playback. By configuring your Core monitors with a "HP" (high-pass filter) and entrusting the infra and low bass to the sub, you reduce distortion and increase the system's dynamic headroom while maintaining a stable stereo image.
The Core Sub features the same DSP engine as the Core speakers, simplifying system alignment and making results more predictable. You can adjust the response according to room placement, a crucial factor in managing resonances and typical bass dips. The benefit is immediate: a clearer low end, less "boomy," and a more reliable translation on consumer systems.
Thanks to its 4 x 9-inch woofers and 1,000 W power (2 x 500 W), the Core Sub delivers bass that is both deep and controlled, capable of reaching 120 dB maximum output. This power reserve is ideal for working at realistic levels without unwanted compression, while maintaining excellent transient response. The extension down to 15 Hz (and 13.5 Hz at 6 dB) helps judge what happens below the traditional "audible" low spectrum, where energy and impact sensation are critical.
With its XLR line and AES3 on XLR inputs, the Core Sub integrates into classic analog chains as well as studio digital workflows. It can serve as a simple bandwidth extension, true 2.1 bass management, or an LFE channel in cinema environments, with a 24-bit / 192 kHz conversion designed to preserve detail and temporal precision in the low frequencies.
