Designed by Pierre Paubon, a composer attentive to the practical needs of instrumentalists, this score places rhythm at the heart of flute playing: inner pulse, clear articulations, and breath continuity. The writing favors line clarity and naturally breathed phrasing to achieve precise tone and controlled attack, while maintaining a flexible and singing expression.
The score gathers four contrasting pieces that explore different accentuation modes and metric frameworks, with particular attention to breath inflections. You will work on regularity and tempo changes, stability of note endings, as well as the balance between agility and control. The clearly defined rhythmic cells and memorable melodic motifs facilitate appropriation, while encouraging a natural progression of listening, precision, and articulation.
