Complete software
D16 Phoscyon 2 is a virtual instrument designed to produce acid basslines inspired by the TB-303, with everything expected from a "silver box" sound in a modern production context. It is aimed equally at techno, acid, electro, house, and rave producers as well as composers seeking an expressive monophonic bass capable of slipping into the mix with an immediately recognizable character. Thanks to its sequencer, patterns, and "live" orientation, Phoscyon 2 becomes a central tool for building a software groovebox, improvising variations, and recording dynamic takes directly in your DAW.
Phoscyon 2 carries the DNA of acid bass aiming for a finer and more realistic emulation: the developer announces a completely redesigned signal path to achieve a higher level of fidelity. Practically, this results in a more responsive instrument with a more organic sound that retains the necessary edge and impact for basslines that "speak" in the low-midrange, while remaining controllable in a modern mix.
While the 303 spirit is intact, Phoscyon 2 is not limited to nostalgia. The instrument offers a broader approach designed for creation: you can go beyond classic behaviors, enrich movement, and add extra dimension to your patterns. The Vibrato feature brings a new color to highlight certain notes, create melodic tension, or give a more "synth lead" character to an initially very low line.
The heart of the acid workflow is the pattern. Phoscyon 2 integrates a new sequencer and arpeggiator to create more sophisticated and better-controlled lines. Pattern editing is designed to stay fluid: you can modify, refine, and organize your ideas without breaking inspiration, then loop your patterns and chain them as you wish. Whether you prefer editing with the mouse, assigning to a MIDI controller, or controlling via MIDI notes from your DAW, the goal remains the same: capture lively and musical variations quickly.
To achieve the famous "squeaks" and typical aggressiveness of acid basses, Phoscyon 2 includes a modern effects chain gathering several algorithms designed for this type of sound. The strength lies in flexibility: the reorderable insert effects allow you to adapt the processing order to your intention, whether to thicken saturation before filtering, emphasize presence, or transform the bassline into a sharper rhythmic element.
Phoscyon 2 offers production and real-time playing features: drag-and-drop export to speed up integration into your session, Live override to instantly take control during a performance, and a display designed to "see where you are at a glance." The Music roulette feature is also there to spark inspiration and generate starting points when you want to break out of your habits.
To get started immediately, Phoscyon 2 includes over 800 presets and patterns in the factory content, covering everything from round and subtle basses to upfront acid sequences ready to cut through the mix. On the ergonomics side, several interface sizes are available with HiDPI support to ensure perfect readability depending on your screen. Finally, MIDI Learn facilitates assigning your controls to regain "hardware" feel and quickly automate key parameters in your DAW.
