Toontrack EZkeys 2 is designed for musicians, producers, and composers who want to write songs on the piano quickly without sacrificing musicality. It combines a realistic virtual piano with an arrangement-oriented approach: you can generate credible accompaniments, explore chord progressions, adapt the playing style to your intention (simple, dense, more syncopated), and build a complete structure directly within the software, then finalize the mix in your DAW. It is especially effective for pop, rock, indie, melodic hip-hop, film music, or any production where the piano supports harmony, rhythm, and emotion.
The Core-Library includes a carefully recorded Fazioli F212 for expressive response and natural presence in the mix. You can adjust several aspects of the sound, including EQ, room proportion, and background noise, to achieve an intimate and close piano or, conversely, a wider and more "studio" sound. For advanced control, the recording can be routed via individual outputs into your DAW, useful for separately processing different sound components and integrating the piano into a modern mix.
EZkeys 2 offers a very extensive MIDI library with over 1400 piano patterns covering many styles. The goal is not just to play a preset but to quickly find a backing base and then transform it. The Tap2Find function automatically suggests a suitable accompaniment from mouse clicks or MIDI notes, ideal when you have a rhythm in mind but not yet the right right/left-hand playing.
With Bandmate, you can import audio and MIDI files and get musically relevant suggestions that fit your material. This approach is particularly useful when starting from vocals, guitar, a beat, or a MIDI theme, and you want to quickly find a piano that "tells the same story" without spending hours testing variants.
The integrated grid editor offers an intelligent humanization function to improve timing and avoid a mechanical feel. It also includes automatic recognition and adaptation of phrases to scales or chords, simplifying transposition and harmonic adjustment during writing. To go further, the Suggested Chord function and the chord wheel help find relevant chords and input them quickly, a major asset for unlocking a verse, enriching a chorus, or creating more interesting bridges.
The timeline arranger allows you to build complete accompaniments and organize your track (intro, verse, chorus, break), with a recording function to capture your ideas as you create. The Edit-Play-Style feature makes variations simple and immediate: easily change octave, note length, or pattern complexity to shift from a minimalist vibe to a denser playing style while maintaining musical coherence.
