Soliste is a virtual solo string instrument designed for composers, producers, and sound designers who want to play (not just trigger) a bowed instrument. Thanks to physical modeling, you get a lively and continuous response, ideal for film music, ambient, orchestral pop, contemporary playing, or any production that demands credible phrasing, natural transitions, and fine expressivity via MIDI control.
Rather than choosing between "legato" and "staccato" as in a traditional library, you shape the movement, attack, and pressure like a player, making Soliste particularly suited for exposed solo lines, progressive crescendos, on-the-fly controlled tremolos, and highly detailed string textures.
Soliste emphasizes gesture: note sustain, pressure variations, bow changes, and micro-irregularities translate into an expressive, musical, and believable rendering. The goal is to regain a natural control feeling, where playing intention comes before automation and where each phrase can breathe, vibrate, and evolve continuously.
As a synthesizer based on physical modeling, Soliste lets you adjust the bow response and vibrato behavior to match your touch. You can customize the tone by selecting the instrument body and modifying model parameters, ranging from an intimate, close sound to a broader, cinematic presence, without relying on sample layers.
Soliste includes a wide range of articulation presets designed for quick character shifts: sul ponticello, sul tasto, pizzicato, Bartók pizzicato, col legno, as well as short strokes like spiccato, spiccatissimo, staccato, staccatissimo, and martelé. Each articulation can then be deeply customized via synthesizer parameters to create your own response, attacks, and playing behaviors.
Soliste works with MPE-compatible controllers (e.g., Push 3, Seaboard, LinnStrument) to exploit more expressive control dimensions. Advanced settings allow sensitivity adjustment to your style. If you play on a standard MIDI keyboard, Soliste remains fully usable thanks to a flexible MIDI table, convenient for quickly assigning essential parameters to your controllers.
Soliste is presented as a collection of four physically modeled solo string instruments. Referenced models: VLN.356 (not included) for violin, VLA.419 (not included) for viola, CLO.756 for cello, and DBS.1130 (not included) for double bass. The cello stands out with depth and dynamics particularly suited for emotional and cinematic lines, while the other instruments cover the expressive high register (violin), warm midrange (viola), and foundational lows (double bass).
