Complete software
Soliste is a virtual instrument dedicated to solo strings for composition, arrangement, and music production in the studio. It aims primarily for a "player" feel: rather than triggering sample layers, you shape the sound live with your gestures and touch, just like on a real bowed instrument. Soliste is suitable for expressive melodic lines (film music, ambient, pop, neo-classical) as well as more rhythmic and articulated parts, whenever you seek nuance, controlled imperfection, and a living instrument sensation.
Soliste emphasizes the natural gesture: note holding, bow direction changes, pressure and speed variations, micro-grips, and friction. The result is expressiveness that goes beyond simple "forte/piano" dynamics: you get transitions and nuances closer to instrumental playing, with a response that encourages interpretation rather than programming.
The interface and sound design focus on clarity: you quickly adjust bow response, vibrato behavior, and overall timbre shaping to tailor the instrument to your playing style. The goal is to spend less time "correcting" and more time performing, whether on a keyboard or an expressive controller.
Soliste operates like a physical modeling synthesizer: you can customize the tone and feel by selecting the instrument body and modifying model parameters to range from a soft, close timbre (sul tasto type) to more incisive textures (sul ponticello type). This approach offers creative freedom especially useful for modern, hybrid, and cinematic productions.
Soliste includes a wide palette of articulation presets: sul ponticello, sul tasto, pizzicato, Bartók, col legno, as well as short bow strokes like spiccato, spiccatissimo, staccato, staccatissimo, and martelé. Each articulation can then be further refined with internal settings to fine-tune the attack, bow behavior, and response to your velocity or continuous controllers.
Soliste is compatible with MPE controllers (e.g., Push 3, Seaboard, LinnStrument), allowing finer per-note expression. If you work with a classic MIDI keyboard, the instrument remains fully usable thanks to a flexible MIDI mapping table for easily assigning essential parameters (vibrato, bow intensity, tremolo, articulation variations). This ensures natural integration with your DAW and production workflow.
This software highlights a family of modeled solo instruments. In this version, VLN.356 (violin) is included. The models VLA.419 (viola), CLO.756 (cello), and DBS.1130 (double bass) are listed as not included. The VLN.356 violin stands out with a clear and agile presence, ideal for expressive melodies and fast articulations.
