Complete software
IK Multimedia MODO DRUM is a virtual instrument dedicated to creating realistic and expressive drum tracks, whether for composing, producing, arranging, or finalizing a mix. Designed to fit modern workflows, it allows you to quickly build a coherent kit and then refine the sonic character so it naturally fits into pop, rock, electronic, hip-hop, film scoring, or pre-production demo contexts.
Thanks to its modeling-oriented design, MODO DRUM aims for more of an "instrument" behavior than "simple sample playback": the goal is to achieve a musical, dynamic, and nuanced response, both via MIDI keyboard and piano-roll editor, while maintaining a sound quality suitable for mixing environments.
MODO DRUM is based on a physical modeling architecture, notably relying on modal synthesis to reproduce the behavior and response of a drum kit. This approach emphasizes interaction and playing feel: attacks, dynamics, variations, and articulation find their natural place in an arrangement without needing to layer multiple samples or use programming tricks.
By combining modal synthesis and advanced sampling, MODO DRUM strikes a balance between musicality, texture, and precision. You get a drum sound that can be finely shaped while maintaining a strong identity right from the plug-in insertion. This hybrid foundation facilitates adjustments to shift from a present and modern drum sound to a softer, rawer, or more "studio" tone depending on the track context.
With 13 virtual drum kits, MODO DRUM offers a directly usable sonic palette while leaving ample room for customization. The idea is to adapt the kit to your production rather than adapting your production to the kit: you shape the overall character, adjust elements as needed, and build a coherent drum set that is both musical and credible.
MODO DRUM is designed to integrate easily into your sessions, whether working standalone or as a plug-in within your DAW. Supported formats allow use in most current production environments, for programming drums, doubling a take, enriching an arrangement, or producing a complete rhythm from a MIDI track. Its digital license with online activation also simplifies deployment across your workstations.
