Yamaha C3X is a virtual piano instrument designed to reproduce the versatile character of a studio grand piano, with precise dynamic response and detailed rendering. It fits equally well in cinematic productions (wide, immersive piano rich in atmosphere), as well as in classical contexts (fine nuances and articulation), jazz (attack, presence, and noise control), and pop (clear piano, stable in the mix). Thanks to the different microphone positions and the mixer, you can quickly adapt the piano to the arrangement, from intimate solo to "mix-ready" piano at the center of a dense production.
Chromatic sampling combined with 12 dynamic layers allows faithful tracking of velocity and playing intention. The result: a natural transition between dynamic levels, useful for delicate passages, gradual crescendos, and more pronounced attacks typical of jazz or modern pop.
The four microphone positions offer a palette of perspectives: the Player mic emphasizes proximity and precision, Mid balances body and definition, Tail adds length and breadth, and Room provides space and depth. The built-in mixer facilitates blending these sources to switch from a tight, intimate piano to a wide, more orchestrated piano without multiplying external processing.
To enhance realism, Yamaha C3X offers sustain and string resonance adjustments to tailor the amount of harmonic resonance according to style and arrangement. Adaptive release samples and mechanical noises add a "live" dimension: you can keep a very clean piano for pop, or conversely embrace more mechanical details for a more authentic solo take.
