Toontrack EZbass Acoustic EBX is an expansion designed to broaden the sonic palette of Toontrack EZbass with a traditional acoustic bass, ideal when you seek a natural and lively harmonic foundation. It fits seamlessly into minimalist productions (acoustic guitar + vocals) as well as denser arrangements where the bass needs to remain clear, precise, and stable in the mix.
Thanks to its woody yet percussive character, this EBX is particularly relevant for songwriting demos, modern pop/folk productions, ballads, and any situation where you want to maintain a deep, musical low end without sacrificing articulation.
The core of the Acoustic EBX is based on careful capture via a condenser microphone (for depth, air, and body resonance) and an integrated piezo pickup (for a sharper attack and tighter low end). This combination allows you to explore very different tones: a round, natural bass to support guitar/vocals, or a more direct sound that fits easily into modern, rhythmic pop.
The expansion offers different playing techniques to adapt the instrument's response to your musical intent: soft accompaniment, stronger groove, more pronounced nuances depending on playing position. The result: you can build a credible, expressive, and coherent bass line, whether programming note-by-note or using patterns.
A wide selection of sound presets is included, featuring chains with various amps, equalizers, compressors, and other effects. For sessions where you want to shape the sound at the source, the "Clean DI" preset provides a neutral and controlled base, useful for blending the bass with your usual processing and maintaining consistency across multiple tracks.
In addition to the instrument, the Acoustic EBX includes an internal MIDI library designed with typical and musical patterns inspired by many styles. It's an excellent starting point to quickly find a rhythmic foundation, generate variations, test grooves, or speed up the setup of verse/chorus structures without losing the natural feel of bass playing.
