Post-Metal EZX is a virtual drum expansion designed to instantly provide a massive, slow, and "alive" rhythmic foundation to your productions. It is aimed at composers and producers seeking a drum sound that is both earthy, dark, and organic, capable of shifting from a tense whisper to a full-width wave without losing naturalness.
In post-metal (and its neighboring genres: sludge, doom, heavy post-rock, atmospheric metal), the drums do more than mark the tempo: they sculpt the space, establish tension, and emphasize contrasts. This EZX focuses on dynamics, playing feel, and impact, for slow and crushing grooves, gradual build-ups, breathing breaks, and controlled explosions.
This EZX offers four unique kits tailored for productions where nuance matters as much as power. The goal is clear: to preserve the rawness and intent of the performance while delivering a sound dense enough to stand up to low-tuned guitars, walls of amps, and ambient textures.
Going beyond the "standard kit," Post-Metal EZX includes two additional configurations recorded without snare drum, ideal for exploring more open arrangements, airier passages, or conversely reinforcing the tribal and massive aspect by shifting the groove's center of gravity. Several additional drum elements complement the set, along with dark and imposing cymbal sets for wide crashes, deep washes, and movement-rich transitions.
Recorded at Ocean Sound studio, on the small island of Giske facing the North Sea, this collection highlights an aesthetic where you can hear the room, the air, and the depth. The result aims for a balance essential to post-metal: size and weight without sacrificing clarity, and a "studio" feel that remains raw, unapologetic, and inspiring.
