u-he Repro is a virtual instrument designed to recreate the impact and warmth of classic analog synthesizers in a setup suited for current productions. It excels equally in punchy basses and cutting leads (Repro-1) as well as rich pads, evolving textures, and lively chords (Repro-5). Whether you produce electro, synthwave, funk, pop, scoring, or techno, Repro delivers a "vintage" sonic signature with precise control, built-in effects, and smooth integration into most DAWs.
Repro-1 is an uncompromising monosynth designed to get straight to the point: two multi-shape oscillators, a 4-pole resonant low-pass filter capable of self-oscillation, and an efficient modulation section to sculpt aggressive, creamy, or downright experimental timbres. The arpeggiator (with latch) and the integrated sequencer make it a formidable tool for creating fast lines, repetitive patterns, and mechanically tight textures perfectly synced to tempo.
Repro-5 retains the sonic DNA of Repro-1 while expanding the possibilities: 8-voice polyphony (or up to 8 voices in unison with glide), per-voice panning, and audio-rate modulation for more organic movement. It's the ideal choice for dense chords, massive unisons, and detailed analog pads without losing the raw, lively character that defines the series.
The Tweaks panel allows you to fine-tune the internal behavior of modules as if you had access to certain "jumpers" and calibration settings of hardware machines. On Repro-1, there are 5 adjustable jumpers and 5 module selectors. On Repro-5, this increases to 10 jumpers and 6 selectors, plus dedicated trimmers for stereo placement of each voice. The result: you refine the synth's response (character, dynamics, instabilities) while keeping main controls immediately accessible.
Repro-1 features an advanced sequencer: step recording of two patterns up to 32 notes, preset saving, copy/paste between instances, per-step velocity control, insertion of rests, and recording via MIDI controller. A true idea engine to transform a simple patch into a performance.
Repro-5 replaces the sequencer section with a polyphonic distortion applied per voice before other effects. Chords remain clear because each note has its own processing. Four modes are offered: Soft Clip, Hard Clip, Foldback, and Corrode (sample rate reduction and bit crushing).
Both instruments include high-quality effects presented as stomp-boxes, with reorderable chaining via drag-and-drop in the FX Chain. Repro-1 offers: Jaws (wavefolder), Lyrebird (flexible delay), RESQ (semi-parametric EQ or resonator), Drench (plate reverb), and Sonic Conditioner (stereo saturation and transient designer). Repro-5 replaces Jaws with Velvet (multi-mode saturation) and retains Lyrebird, RESQ, Drench, and Sonic Conditioner, plus its polyphonic distortion module. FX panels can also automatically switch to match the chain order.
