Many legendary artists use a Cry Baby. Dunlop has worked with some of them to develop wah-wahs with customized voicings!
This custom Cry Baby combines 3 of Justin Chancellor’s (Tool’s bassist) favorite effects to explore and create new sounds: wah-wah, midrange filter, and fuzz.
This Justin Chancellor wah wah is a true Swiss army knife for bassists. With a flick of a switch, you can choose between an aggressive and bright wah-wah or the “U.K. Filter,” a filter based on his legendary Wal Bass. These two fully adjustable combinations allow you to create impressive soundscapes and atmospheres. And to add a huge “growl,” Justin wanted to include a separate vintage fuzz that enables him to fulfill his very particular role as bassist in Tool. Whether it’s to create pads of chords and harmonics that gradually open up or to play heavy riffs in unison with guitarist Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor has always pushed the traditional limits of his instrument to compose multi-layered bass lines.
