Although the origin of the term "jazz" is still debated, the leading candidate for its origin is "jasm," a word dating back to 1860 that evokes spirit, energy, and vigor. Whether this origin is true or not, these descriptive words are characteristics that characterize jazz today, as they have throughout its history. The legacy of jazz and its impact on music as we know it are monumental. Perhaps no musical style has successfully crossed cultural boundaries, survived fads and trends, or been as seminal as jazz in producing great instrumentalists. Quite simply, it is ingrained in our DNA and constitutes the common thread of our musical history.
This EZX is a tribute to jazz as a whole, and more specifically to the golden age of the big band. This genre not only produced some of the most iconic artists in history, but also immortalized the drum set, placing it at the center of the stage. The EZX Big Band offers two kits from the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s, carefully selected and designed to offer an authentic glimpse of what the big band sound was and still is.
