SOFT FOCUS GHOST
The legend surrounding the original Yamaha FX500 is now well known, but it was our own FX500B, the bass unit, that inspired the entire Ghost product line. We bought it on Reverb, and it would randomly change patches, often to settings we had never heard before. This simple mechanical error gave birth to the range, inserting new sounds into the architecture of a forgotten piece of equipment. After some careful tweaking, we invoked the spirits of the FX500 to bring you Soft Focus Ghost. The new feature of Soft Focus Ghost incorporates a phase shifter into the mix, replacing the Symph knob we originally added to Soft Focus where there was none before. The new Ghost control adds a non-traditional phase-shifting algorithm that serves as an enhancement tool rather than a sticky modulation that completely takes over the entire signal. The speed and depth of this phaser are linked to the same knob, so faster speeds are deeper than slower settings. The Mod knob now acts as a master depth control for all modulations, and the Ghost still includes chorus, plate reverb, input gain, and full wet-dry mix capabilities. The Soft Focus operates from 9 to 18 volts using a standard negative-polarity DC power supply for pedals. Be sure to use a power supply that provides at least 100 mA. Soft Focus works great at 9V, but if you want a little more power, dry signal boost, and increased headroom, try any voltage up to 18V! Soft Focus does not run on batteries.
Features:
Mod: acts as a master depth control for all modulations.
Ghost: phase shift algorithm. Verb: reverb decay time. Vol: adds a little gain to the Dry signal before the effect, can be used in Buffer/Trails mode as a clean boost.
