With the all-new TD 124 DD, Thorens continues this tradition while adding innovative technologies. This turntable features a height-adjustable aluminium chassis that rests on rubber feet designed to effectively dampen vibrations. It is equipped with a high-precision direct drive system, which allows for stable playback and excellent speed control.

The Thorens TD 124 DD turntable is also compatible with 33 and 45 rpm records and has a selector switch that allows you to easily change the rotation speed. Thorens has paid attention to every detail in the development of this turntable to ensure that it meets the highest performance standards.

A high-precision ?J' tonearm
The Thorens TD 124 DD turntable features a TP 124 ?J' tonearm exclusive to this model, with a length of 309 mm and a ruby bearing for optimum anti-skating precision. The tonearm can be precisely adjusted to ensure the best operating conditions for the mounted cartridge. In addition, a slightly heavier counterweight is provided to accommodate a wide selection of phono cartridges.

The TP 124 tonearm is combined with a patented electric tonearm lift, which facilitates smooth placement and removal of the stylus. Although this mechanism can be time-consuming and noisy, it offers the added benefit of precise stylus placement. Anti-skating is managed by a weight with a ruby bearing for increased precision. It can be installed manually with patience and precision.

A separate power supply for a high-fidelity audio experience
The Thorens TD 124 DD is equipped with a TPN 124 external power supply, designed to minimise electrical interference and ensure a clean power supply. This separate power supply is crucial for ensuring stable operation of the turntable and achieving clear, detailed listening with increased dynamic range. Thorens chose this design to limit electrical and mechanical interference, which can negatively impact the sound quality of high-end turntables.

Adjustable chassis for optimal playback
The Thorens TD 124 DD turntable features a carefully designed chassis to effectively eliminate vibrations and ensure optimal performance. Since the cartridge of a turntable functions like a microphone, vibrations and resonances are amplified, creating distortion and background noise that detract from the listening experience.

The chassis consists of a heavy lower block mounted on four damping feet and a second part mounted on four height-adjustable damping feet with rubber balls for optimal vibration damping. The upper part contains the playback speed selector, the tonearm, a selector that acts as a lever for the tonearm and a built-in spirit level. To ensure optimal playback conditions, it is essential that the turntable is perfectly horizontal. The spirit level and adjustable feet make it easy to adjust this setting.

The Thorens TD 124 DD is equipped with several types of connectors, including RCA phono outputs, a balanced XLR output and a USB digital output. The XLR output is particularly interesting for audiophiles as it offers better isolation of audio signals and more stable transmission, thus reducing electromagnetic interference. However, it can only be used with an XLR-compatible preamplifier.
