The world's best modeling mic has received a major update. A true revolution upon its initial release, the ML-1 mic accurately reproduced the tone and timbre of over 25 carefully selected vintage mics, ranging from modern studio staples to ribbon classics. Now, the all-new ML-1A and the redesigned Virtual Microphone System plugin take this functionality to a whole new level.
The ML-1A is a large-diaphragm condenser mic ideal for capturing everything from vocals to acoustic instruments, drums, and more. It packs all its power into a smaller, sleeker package than its predecessor, with a dark gray metal body and a redesigned grille. Beyond the aesthetic differences, the ML-1A's main new feature is its three-position pad (0 dB / -10 dB / -20 dB). It can capture up to 145 dB SPL with the -20 dB pad engaged. It also benefits from reduced self-noise for an even cleaner recording experience.

Virtual Microphone System The user experience of the virtual microphone models has also been greatly improved: all models are now grouped together in a single standalone plugin. Compared to the VMR modules used with the ML-1, the new VMS plugin offers additional features: • Microphone model morphing: blend the characteristics of two microphones to create a completely new sound. • Proximity slider: applies the low-frequency boost effect that occurs naturally when a microphone is placed close to the source. • Low-cut selector: eliminates unwanted noise in certain situations. • Mono to stereo widener: widens the voice in the stereo spectrum, ideal for contrasting backing vocals.
