Virtuoso flutist strongly influenced by Brazilian music, Mathieu-André Reichert (1830–1880) was one of the introducers of the modern Böhm system for the transverse flute. His Seven Daily Exercises, first published in 1872 and reissued in 1950 by flutist Fernand Caratgé (1902–1991) for the Leduc music editions, focus on fluidity and flexibility of technique.
