With this 1/2 scale model, Yamaha addresses the young by allowing them to debut on a quality instrument at a very affordable price. 3/4 models adapt perfectly to the expectations of children wishing to start playing the guitar. However, the very young need an even smaller instrument, which led us to manufacture this 1/2 model, the CGS102. Its narrower sides and short range of 535mm ensure great playing comfort. The sound has not been sacrificed thanks to the combination of spruce and meranti. The rosewood fingerboard and bridge illustrate Yamaha's desire to propose an economical instrument of impeccable quality. I am really delighted with this small guitar. Thanks to its 48mm neck, by changing the top nut, an adult can easily play it (unfortunately, the strings are too close together with the original nut, even though there is plenty of space on the sides...) If you have always had trouble playing on a large guitar... if you have back problems... this guitar is perfect! And for a guitar made of laminated wood, I am really surprised by the sound quality. Some say it doesn't sound great? Obviously, if you tune it in E with strings that are too soft, it won't work... But put on a set of Savarez Alliance Cantiga strings, and tune it to F! The sound is magnificent. Really, hats off to Yamaha for making such a beautiful small guitar that sounds so good, and for so little money. And on top of that, it is very light. Very nice study guitar. My 7-year-old son is delighted. The guitar was tested by 3 experienced musicians and the opinion is unanimous: excellent 1/52 guitar to start learning the instrument.
