The boost is one of the most essential effects on a pedalboard: it can serve as a simple volume increase, a tool to push an amp, or a "preamp" to thicken the tone. Placed before an overdrive or distortion, it can tighten the attack and increase saturation for singing leads. Placed after your saturations, it serves more as a volume boost to cut through the band, with extra body if you choose Crank mode.
