Description

The EVH Flanger features an Unchained switch for instant EVH tone and comes fittingly adorned with Eddie's famous striped graphics.
This pedal can be powered by two 9-volt batteries, a 18-volt adapter or the DC Brick?, Iso-Brick? and Mini Iso-Brick? power supplies.

THE LONG STORY

Everyone knows that it was the MXR Flanger that powered the timeless Van Halen tunes "Unchained" and "And The Cradle Will Rock." Now you can grab a piece of that world-class tone with the MXR EVH117 Flanger. This amazing stompbox features the same bucket-brigade technology that provided the sweeping, whooshing magic of the original. But we didn't stop there. We've also added the EVH Switch, which instantly calls up Eddie's "Unchained" sound with the exact same Manual, Width, Speed and Regeneration settings that he used to get one of the greatest guitar tones of all time. Sounds as it should! However, the 'magic' button does not give you the sound of Unchained, you have to do it manually and set the first 3 knobs to 11:30 and the regen to max. Why is the preset off? Mystery. Eddie must have set it as he wanted without spending hours comparing with the album... Apart from the sound, which is huge, there are flaws: - the look is less refined than before (the black lines are only on the top) - it is delivered without power supply (unlike its gray twin) - it's a hassle to get batteries into the compartments, they barely fit - 18V power supply not very practical - raised feet and battery compartment covers make it difficult to install with velcro on a pedalboard But all these criticisms don't stop me from loving it and playing Hear About It Later on loop, pure bliss!...
