Description

Anasounds Savage MK2 Effects Pedal
A warm and powerful overdrive inspired by the legendary Centaur
As powerful and formidable as ever, we've chosen to keep the original electronic structure to maximise the warmth and dynamics of the sound.

Versatile overdrive, suitable for all situations as a boost to get your solo out of the mix, or permanently activated to gain grit and sustain.

Compared to the dozens of current clones, we've rebuilt the filtering and gain stages to match our vision of the Centaur.

So here it is: after watching a Laura Cox video on Youtube, I decided to take the plunge for an Anasounds Savage. As usual, order on my favorite online store: Woodbrass. Until now, being equipped with a TS9, I didn't see the point of adding anything to my gear: a Gibson True Historic 59 and a PRS Single cut 2006 mounted with a hysteric bar 59 (I know: I'm a bit of a 59 monomaniac ...), all screaming in stereo on a Marshall JVM 215c and a Deluxe Reverb RI 65. In case you haven't guessed: I mostly play blues and 70/80s hard rock. I thought that at worst I could send the beast back if it didn't fit. I tried it today.... And there it is the drama: never had such an incredible sound!!! A crazy overdrive: AC/DC from the time of "bad boy boogie": you see? Impossible to describe the warmth of this overdrive, its hyper nervous and dynamic side, totally versatile with its different external and internal controls: it's just orgasmic!!! Plus even the Deluxe Reverb (which is not very pedal friendly: apart from TS type overdrives, forget classic distortions, they mess up your ears...) sounds like it never sounded before!!!: imagine the sound of Popa Chubby on his Twin Reverb heated to white hot and well, it's the same! Honestly, the guys at Anasounds: I'm blown away! It's really nice to know that on top of that, it's Frenchies who are at the helm.. Respect. Just respect ...... (Show more)

Tested on electric guitar, electro-acoustic, and bass, the pedal brings more treble and definition. So much so that you want to leave it on permanently, with or without gain! It combines very well with other overdrives... When you crank the gain, the sound has a grain that can indeed become "wild"! But it's not distortion!!! And it's not necessarily where I prefer it, but more in permanent use with the gain either at minimum, quarter, or half depending on the songs and what I want... The internal settings can change the game quite a bit. I don't like clipping that restricts the pedal's excellent dynamics, for example... Bravo Anasounds!

I use it as an overdrive (on a Marshall) and I love it! The sound is round, warm, and vintage. But I just find that the volume increases a bit too quickly for an overdrive. Otherwise, I love the look and the settings inside are very practical for "fine-tuning" the sound.

Made in France! Finally, we still have expertise in France, Anasounds, Val Martins, and many others... good local products. A sure value, an excellent overdrive, a magnificent finish. The only downside is the absence of small non-slip pads underneath the case.
