Finding good quality left-handed guitars is not easy. This SG Special with P90s, 2 piece mahogany body and one piece neck is a rare beast. Yes I could have bought a Gibson, but I doubt it would offer anything over this Epiphone, and cost a lot more.
I don't have any real negatives to report, the guitar is a joy to play and the build quality is top notch. That neck profile is a dream ! Whether you buy into the Tony Iommi thing or not, it doesn't matter, the guitar is superb in its own right.
The only thing I would point out is that the set-up was off. String height was high and zero neck relief. Yes it played clean straight out of the box, but a little tweaking got it just right. This is not uncommon on the recent Epiphones I've seen and is probably the 'default' out of factory set-up. But then I didn't pay a Gibson ransom !
I knocked the Quality / price score down one star, simply because I had to pay the list price on the left-handed model. The right-handed versions were at least 100€ less.
One last thing, I love the case, that yellow interior - wow !... (voir plus)
