Essential Information About the NUX Amp Academy Multi-Effects
- All-in-one "ampless" platform: iconic amp modeling, impulse responses, and key effects combined in a compact pedal format.
- Ready for stage, studio, and home: jack and XLR D.I. outputs, headphone, auxiliary input, effects loop, and IR switchable per output.
- Free precision editor: bias adjustment, block organization, third-party IR import, presets, Drum & Loop functions, and reamp via USB.
- Realistic amp feel: latency around 1.2 ms, 110 dB dynamic range, and 1 GHz DSP.
At the Crossroads of Classic and Modern
A true "pedalboard preamp," the Amp Academy captures the personalities of iconic amps: American "blackface"-style cleans, snappy British combos, Californian high-gain, and modern heads. Its TSAC-2K white-box modeling engine replicates the power stage and allows bias adjustment to recover the elasticity, compression, and "sag" of a pushed tube amp.
For Which Guitarist and Uses?
Designed for the modern guitarist who wants to travel light without compromising sound, it covers blues to hard rock, pop-rock to metal. It naturally integrates on a live pedalboard (to FRFR or PA), in the studio for recording and reamping via USB, or at home for silent practice with headphones. The storable scenes enable instant switching from sparkling clean to precise crunch or saturated lead.
Simple Workflow, Powerful Options
Seven movable blocks (NR, comp/boost/drive, 6-band EQ, effects loop, reverb, IR...) chain as you wish. Two footswitches control A/B channels and the 3 scenes. Controls remain familiar (gain, master, bass, middle, treble, presence, boost, noise reduction). Connectivity includes: jack output to amp return, XLR D.I. with lift, 3.5 mm headphone, aux-in, TRS insert for 4-cable integration, and USB for recording, streaming, reamping, and editing (MIDI over USB). The 1024-sample IRs are independently assignable to jack and XLR outputs, with simplified third-party IR import.
Sound
Responsive to touch and picking hand, the Amp Academy delivers sparkling cleans, gritty crunches, and dense saturations while respecting your upstream pedals. Bias adjustment shapes attack and compression, while IRs reproduce cabinet grain and room ambience. Transparent when desired, colored on demand, it cleans up with the volume knob and accepts boosts without crushing dynamics.
