The Apollo e2m was designed to meet a very specific need in Dante network audio configurations: to provide a compact monitoring terminal that is easy to deploy and capable of adding line-level inputs/outputs exactly where you need them. In a control room, booth, recording space, stage, or live setup, it naturally complements an Apollo x16D interface and also integrates as an access point on any Dante network.
Its positioning is clear: where a main interface handles core routing and conversions, the e2m provides a local listening station and useful connections close to musicians, instruments, or monitors. This modular logic (main interface + access points) modernizes workflow by reducing analog cable runs and simplifying daily configuration changes.
The Apollo e2m is aimed at sound engineers, producers, musicians, and technicians working in a Dante environment who want reliable listening control without multiplying boxes. It is particularly relevant for in-ear monitor systems, sessions with multiple listening zones, or setups where local monitoring (headphones or powered speakers) must be provided without running long analog lines.
Thanks to its station format and integrated microphone stand mount, it can be easily positioned at the point of use: near a keyboard, pedalboard, stage rack, or workstation. The result: you maintain accessible and clean monitoring while keeping the flexibility of Dante routing to adjust mixes and sources with just a few clicks.
With its two parallel stereo headphone outputs (6.35 mm jack and 3.5 mm mini-jack), the e2m facilitates headphone monitoring, whether with a studio headphone, stage model, or personal listening system. It can also feed a nearfield monitor via its line outputs to connect powered speakers or amplified monitors and create a standalone listening point on the network.
The mute button for line and headphone outputs provides immediate convenience in real situations: patch changes, hot-plugging, stage communication, or simple safety during level adjustments.
The stereo line inputs turn the Apollo e2m into a quick injection point for your sources: synths, drum machines, amp simulators, samplers, or audio players. This approach is especially effective in hybrid live and creative studio environments: instead of routing the source back to the main interface, you integrate it locally, then route it via the Dante network to the control room, monitors, or recording.
For mobile or evolving setups, it is also a very current way to add I/O where the project requires it, without reconfiguring the entire infrastructure.
One of the major advantages of the e2m is its Power over Ethernet (PoE): a single cable can handle both network audio and power. Compared to more traditional monitoring solutions (power strips, external power supplies, extension cords), this approach reduces error risks, speeds up installation, and contributes to a cleaner setup.
Add to that an integrated microphone stand mount: the e2m can be quickly positioned in the right place, whether in the studio (booth, room, sidecar) or on stage (musician's station, drum riser, monitors). This is a tangible time saver during soundchecks, stage changes, and shoots.
As a Dante endpoint, the e2m integrates into a modern audio network and can function as a monitoring and line I/O point within a larger system. It can also be paired with a remotely controllable Apollo e1x Unison preamp (optional) to extend connectivity and provide a coherent setup on the network. When combined with an Apollo x16D, you get a configuration designed for Dante routing with a production-oriented approach: personal listening points, local sources, and flexible assignment according to session needs.
