The progressive metal virtuosos Periphery are known for their complex rhythms and ultra-precise sound, a sound that requires pickups with the right output level to stand out in the mix.
The Alpha & Omega pickups were created to achieve the level of precision and flexibility demanded by Mark Holcomb. The Omega bridge pickup brings percussion and growls in the mids and lows. It is aggressive but also has a lot of clarity and brightness, cutting through the mix whether it’s complex chords, intense solos, or single notes.
The Alpha neck pickup is not like other neck pickups. It was designed to combine the best of a neck pickup and a bridge pickup. With a crystalline and snappy sound that perfectly reproduces attacks and nuances of playing dynamics.
The Mark Holcomb Alpha & Omega pickups are made in California, Santa Barbara.
Available as a set or as individual pickups for 6, 7, or 8 strings. A Trembucker option is available for 6 strings.
Mark Holcomb’s musicality continues to push progressive metal forward. The tonal character of his new signature pickups Scarlet & Scourge was inspired by his use of high-gain amp modeling.
With a processor that provides the ideal saturation for Periphery, Mark’s new pickups had to gain clarity for his complex voicings, coil splitting, or drop tuning. Through meticulous testing, Mark Holcomb and the Seymour Duncan development team created the Scarlet pickup for the neck position and the Scourge pickup for the bridge position. Like Mark’s other signature neck pickup, the Alpha, perfect for his heaviest riffs, the Scarlet is equipped with ceramic magnets but with an output level calibrated for optimal articulation in clean or crunch tones. The Scourge, with its Alnico VIII magnets, wonderfully delivers the precise lows and mids necessary to anchor Mark’s new sound.
