Introduced in 1997 as a more affordable and contemporary alternative to the iconic U 87, the Neumann TLM 103 has established itself as a "modern classic." By retaining the DNA of the K67/87 capsule while adopting transformerless electronics, it delivers a more direct, clear, and detailed reproduction, perfectly suited for current productions.

The TLM 103 targets project studios, voice-over, and broadcast applications, but also appeals to major studios for lead vocals, narration, guitar amps, drums, and piano. Its deep yet controlled low-frequency response highlights robust voices, while its definition in the upper spectrum enhances double bass, cello, or bass strings in close-miking situations.

I use it for my voice in the studio. Microphone lives up to the brand's reputation: very fine, balanced, and detailed. You get your money's worth. No tonal correction is needed on my voice, it's perfect right from the recording. However, it needs to be well aligned, it is very directional while still capturing quite a bit of room. Only complaint, Neumann could at least provide a pouch to protect the microphone from dust. In the bundle box, there is the microphone and the suspension, and that's it, it's a bit stingy...

Received this microphone recently, I just did some tests for my voice, since I use and will almost exclusively use it for voice recordings for audiobooks of my texts and novels. My voice is a low baritone, and I am very satisfied with the sound in the mid and low ranges. No experience yet with the highs, nor with instruments... but I will take the time to provide another feedback if needed...
