This Eric Clapton signature model has enjoyed immense success among guitarists, and Martin deemed it fitting to offer a version for left-handed players. They can only be delighted by this!
Unplugged.
In 1992, acoustic guitars were no longer in fashion, having been supplanted by synthesizers and other electronic drum machines. Yet, it took just one album by Clapton, the live recording for the MTV Unplugged show, to immediately change the tide. Among the many superb guitars he used during this concert, one particularly catches the eye and ear: an old 000-28 that seems to be his favorite. The 000-28EC replicates the characteristics of this historic guitar.
By divine right.
The guitarist, nicknamed “God” by his countless admirers, chose the 000 shape for its comfort in solo playing and its bright yet warm tone, perfectly suited to the acoustic blues he expertly plays. The master opted for a very particular neck profile, the pronounced V typical of models from the 1930s. For voicings with the thumb over the neck, it’s ideal, and the thickness of the neck also contributes to the very rich resonance of the 000-28EC.
Wonderful Tonight.
Eric’s discreet signature adorns the twentieth fret of the ebony fingerboard. Otherwise, it’s a 000-28 with subtle vintage markings. The diamond-shaped fret markers, vintage-style tuners, and Indian rosewood combine perfectly for an instrument that reflects the eponymous musician: refined, classy, and always effective.
