Grainy, rough to the touch. Here is a pick that has grip! It's a very good reference that I've been using for nearly 10 years now, and it doesn't change: Ultex? It's a reflex!

The aesthetics are not the strong point but the quality is there, it has a good grip. The pick is slightly rough so it doesn't slip when your hands are a bit sweaty
